Vegetable prices continue declining despite EU import ban - Skrynnik

MOSCOW. June 21 (Interfax) - The situation on the Russian market in vegetables is stable and prices continue to decline, despite the ban on imports from the EU, Agriculture Minister Yelena Skrynnik said during a ministry teleconference on Tuesday.

Vegetable prices declined 2% in the latest week, including a 0.5% decline in the price of potatoes, the ministry said in a statement following the video conference.

The Agriculture Ministry did not specify the dates Skrynnik was referring to. In the week of June 7-14 vegetable prices in Russia declined 0.9%, including 0.4% for potatoes, Rosstat reported. Rosstat will publish consumer price data for the week of June 15-21 on Wednesday.

Prices on the main vegetable types have been declining since April.

Food safety watchdog Rospotrebnadzor imposed the ban on vegetable imports from the EU on June 2.
