Head EU rep to Russia insists on dismantling Gazprom monopoly on gas exports
MOSCOW. June 21 (Interfax) - The head of the European Union's representative office in Russia, Fernando Valenzuela, said on Tuesday that a Gazprom's monopoly on export of gas is unacceptable and has proposed reversing it.
"Why don't Russian independent gas producers have access to export? Why don't European producers have access to Russia's pipelines," he said. "Such reform [dismantling the monopoly] will stimulate potential in the Russian energy sector," he said at a forum in Moscow.
