Gas-fueled heating project begins construction in Tianjin

Shanghai. June 23. INTERFAX-CHINA - Tianjin Municipality has begun construction on a gas-fueled heating project at a real estate development in the city, the Tianjin government said June 22.

The RMB 58 million ($8.96 million) project is scheduled to go on-line in 2012 and includes two gas boilers, two heat exchange stations and 36-kilometers of heat pipeline.

The project will provide heat to public buildings and residences in a 918,000 square-meter area, the municipal government said.

Gas-fueled heating currently covers a mere 1.5 million square meters of the city. Tianjin plans to expand the heating network to cover 40 million square meters by 2015, when it will account for approximately 11 percent of heating demand.
