Zubkov not to quit Gazprom board before July

ROSTOV. June 23 (Interfax) - Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov does not intend to stand down as chairman of the board of directors at Gazprom before July 1.

"No, Gazprom is a special case," Zubkov told reporters, answering a question by Interfax.

Zubkov said he would quit the boards of directors at Russian Agriculture Bank (Rosselkhozbank, RSHB) , RusAgroLeasing and RusSpirtprom, all of which he chairs, on June 30.

Zubkov is quitting these boards in line with instructions by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to remove government officials from the boards of state-owned companies. Profile ministers and deputy prime ministers are supposed to stand down by July 1 and highly placed bureaucrats and members of the presidential administration by October 1.

Zubkov said that with respect to Gazprom, a decision would be reached later, "not now."
