Transport Ministry to propose not to extend service life of Tu-134

MOSCOW. June 24 - The Russian Transport Ministry will ask the Trade and Industry Ministry and the Tupolev Construction Bureau not to extend the service life of Tu-134 planes used on regular flights, the Transport Ministry has reported.

An appropriate decision was made on Thursday in the meeting organized by Transport Minister Igor Levitin, which addressed Dmitry Medvedev's order to withdraw Tu-134 planes from operation on regular flights.

The Trade and Industry Ministry and Tupolev were also asked to "stop the procedures for extending the resources" of these planes.
