Sakhalin could boost oil output 37%, gas 130% by 2018

YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK. June 24 (Interfax) - The Sakhalin region's Duma or legislature has passed at first reading a socioeconomic development program that targets oil production to rise 37% by 2018 to 20.3 million tonnes and gas 130% to 55.5 billion cubic meters.

Planned oil production in 2011 is 14.9 million tonnes, in 2012 - 16.3 million tonnes, in 2013 - 16.2 million tonnes, in 2014 - 18 million tonnes and in 2015 - 19.7 million tonnes.

Planned gas production in 2011 is 25.3 bcm, in 2012 - 26.8 bcm, in 2013 - 30 bcm, in 2014 - 38 bcm and in 2015 - 39.7 bcm.

Planned LNG production in 2011 is just over 9.7 million tonnes, in 2012 - just under 9.3 million tonnes, in 2013 - just over 9.4 million tonnes, in 2014 - just under 9.3 million tonnes, in 2015 - 9.4 million tonnes and in 2018 - 9.5 million tonnes.

Sakhalin oil production fell 4.3% in 2010 to just under 15 million tonnes, while gas production rose 29.5% to 24.3 bcm. The Sakhalin 1 and Sakhalin 2 projects currently provide 88% of the region's oil and gas.
