Venezuela wishes to take part in Belarusian privatization program

MINSK. June 30 (Interfax) - Venezuela would like to take part in the privatization of Belarusian enterprises, Venezuelan Ambassador to Minsk Americo Diaz Nunez told a Thursday press conference in Minsk.

"Venezuela has an interest in this issue [privatization]. The question remains open. Possibly, some proposals will be made. Remember that important statements are made after every meeting of the presidents [of Venezuela and Belarus]," he said.

"The acquisition of a stock [in Belarusian enterprises] cannot happen quickly. The value of the enterprise, the total capital and the annual output are essential matters. This is a complicated issue related to the stock exchange," he said.

"These are not small investments, but large sums and large enterprises. The main goal is not the possible revenues but bilateral cooperation and higher efficiency and modernization of the enterprises," he said.
