REFILED: Natural gas output at CNPC's Qiudong Gasfield up 30 pct - report
Beijing. July 4. INTERFAX-CHINA - Qiudong Gasfield in northwestern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (Xinjiang) is producing one million cubic meters (mcm) of natural gas per day, state media reported July 3.
Statistics released by China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), the gasfield's operator, indicate that Qiudong's output is up 30 percent since the start of the year, according to Xinhua news agency.
Since the beginning of the year, CNPC has drilled seven exploration wells at Qiudong, four of which are now operational, the report said.
Located in the Tuha basin in Shanshan County, the Qiudong gasfield is in close proximity to CNPC's Tuha Oilfield site, the company's third largest oilfield in Xinjiang, Interfax previously reported.
CNPC extracted a total of 1.5 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas from the Tuha basin last year, the report added.
