LNG imports up 66 pct at CNOOC's Fujian terminal
Shanghai. July 5. INTERFAX-CHINA - China National Offshore Oil Corp.'s (CNOOC) Fujian liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal received 20 shipments of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the first half (H1) of this year, a government bureau announced July 5.
According to figures released by the Fujian Province Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, the Fujian terminal received 1.28 million tons of LNG from January to June, up 66 percent year-on-year.
CNOOC, China's third-largest oil and gas producer, imported an estimated 345,000 tons of LNG via the terminal in June, the highest monthly amount since terminal began operations in 2008, the bureau said.
The terminal has throughput capacity of 2.6 million tons of LNG per year, Interfax previously reported.
The terminal delivers gas via a 300-kilometer pipeline network transmitting natural gas to three power plants in Fujian province. The plants consume 80 percent, or 1.02 million tons, of the terminal's imported LNG this year, according to the bureau.
CNOOC's Fujian terminal also transmits gas to Guangdong and Zhejiang provinces, Interfax reported May 5 2009.
CNOOC operates four additional LNG terminals in Guangdong Province, Fujian Province and Shanghai Municipality.
