Ukrainian opposition to appeal against pension reform - Tymoshenko

KYIV. July 8 (Interfax) - The Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc (BYuT) - Batkivschina faction is set to ask the Constitutional Court (CC) to block the pension reform, Yulia Tymoshenko, Ukraine's former prime minister and leader of the Batkivschina party, said.

"Our political force, our faction will ask the CC to overturn the pension reform law, which was passed illegally," she told journalists on Friday before entering the building of the Pechersky District Court, which is hearing the 'gas case.'

The pension reform was passed in breach of the constitution because at the time of the vote by 226 MPs, only 40 of them were actually present, Tymoshenko said.

This law is making people's lives worse, which is against the constitution, she said.

Tymoshenko then entered the court building, where hearings began in the case over gas contracts signed with Russia in 2009.
