Ukraine imposes temporary ban on European vegetables
KYIV. July 11 (Interfax) - Ukraine has temporarily banned the imports of European vegetables without certificates confirming the absence of E.coli bacteria, the State Veterinarian and Phytosanitary Service said.
The Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry and the State Inspection for Plant Quarantine made the decision to prevent the imports of dangerous products.
The certificates must be issued by authorized agencies in the country of origin or state veterinarian laboratories of Ukraine.
The ban applies to vegetables, leguminous and some other crops amid the E.coli infection outbreak in Europe, primarily in Germany.
