Russia harvests 4.6 mln tonnes of grain through July 12 - Agriculture Ministry
MOSCOW. July 12 (Interfax) - Russia harvested 4.6 million tonnes of grain as of July 12, the Agriculture Ministry reported.
Grain has been harvested from 1.1 million hectares, for an average yield of 42.1 centners/hectare.
The winter barley and wheat harvest is underway in the Southern and North Caucasus federal districts. In Krasnodar territory, 2.315 million tonnes of grain has been harvested from 431,900 ha for a yield of 53.6 c/ha. The winter rapeseed crop is also being harvested. So far 11,000 tonnes of rapeseed have been harvested from 5,600 ha.
In Stavropol territory, 1.845 million tonnes of grain has been harvested from 506,400 ha, yielding 36.4 c/ha, and in Rostov region, 334,300 tonnes of barley and wheat have been harvested from 106,200 ha for a yield of 31.5 c/ha.
Agriculture producers in Rostov region have also harvested 16,200 tonnes of cucumbers, 7,700 tonnes of cabbage, 2,400 tonnes of green peas, 388 tonnes of tomatoes and 598 tonnes of beets.
The vegetable harvest in Astrakhan region as of July 8 totals about 33,500 tonnes, including 9,960 tonnes of tomatoes, 8,600 tonnes cabbage, 6,000 cucumbers, 1,350 tonnes of onions, 1,100 tonnes of beets, 1,160 tonnes of carrots, 900 tonnes of peppers, 700 tonnes of eggplants and about 4,300 tonnes of melons.
Nationwide, a total of 156,400 tonnes of vegetables have been harvested from 6,300 ha, according to provisional data from agriculture agencies.
