Gansu to build 205 natural gas filling stations under gov't five-year plan
Beijing. July 13. INTERFAX-CHINA - Gansu Province plans to construct 205 natural gas filling stations in the period covered by the present five year plan (2011-2015), state media reported July 13.
Previously, Gansu approved 57 new natural gas filling stations, bringing the total number to be built in the course of the five-year period to 262, according to the Western Economic Daily. Each station is forecast to sell an average of 5,300 cubic meters per day.
Lanzhou City, the capital of Gansu, expects to have 46 natural gas filling stations by 2015, the report said.
Gansu's current network of natural gas filling stations is deemed too small and geographically fragmented to spur investment in gas-powered vehicles in the province.
As of the end of last year, Gansu had 22 plants capable of modifying petrol- and diesel-powered vehicles to gas power, with a total capacity of 10,000 vehicles per year, the report said.
