Ukrzaliznytsya transports 1.6% more passengers in H1

KYIV. July 13 (Interfax) - The state administrator of railway transportation in Ukraine, Ukrzaliznytsya, increased the number of passengers transported by 1.6% year-on-year to 247.4 million people in the first half of this year.

The Ukrzaliznytsya press service reported that passenger turnover increased 4.1% over the half, but did not specify any absolute figures. Transporting passengers generated 2.8 billion hryvni in revenues and cost 5.9 billion hryvni.

Ukrzaliznytsya also saw the movement of 221.8 million tonnes of cargo, a 21.2% year-on-year increase. Railway freight turnover increased to 117.1 billion tonne/kilometers, up 12.6%.

Export cargo turnover increased 11% to 41.2 billion tonne/km, that of imports 4.3% to 7.4 billion tonne/km. Domestic hauling rose 12.2% to 41.1 billion tonne/km and transit-cargo movement 18.1% to 27.4 billion tonne/km.

Revenue from transit freightage totaled 18.7 billion hryvni, associated expenses - 12.7 billion hryvni.
