Construction begins on Shanxi-based gas pipeline
Shanghai. July 15. INTERFAX-CHINA - Construction has begun on a natural gas pipeline linking Lingshi and Jiaoku counties in Shanxi Province, the provincial government announced on its official website July 14.
Shanxi Guoxin Energy Development Group (SGEDG) will invest RMB 150 million ($23.18 million) in the 60-kilometer (km) Lingshi-Jiaokou Natural Gas Pipeline. It is expected to go on-line in October, according to the announcement.
With 500 million cubic meters (mcm) of annual transmission capacity, the pipeline will supply natural gas to more than 400,000 residential and industrial consumers in Lingshi and Jiaokou counties, the local government said.
SGEDG also operates the 1,674-km Datong-Yuncheng Natural Gas Pipeline in Shanxi, which runs from Datong City in the north to Yuncheng City in the south. It is able to transmit eight billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas annually.
Shanxi receives natural gas through the West-East Pipeline (WEP).
