Sinopec unit outputs 3.19 bcm of natural gas in H1

Shanghai. July 15. INTERFAX-CHINA - Sinopec Zhongyuan Oil Field Co. (Sinopec Zhongyuan), a unit of China Petrochemical Corp. (Sinopec), produced 3.19 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas in the first half (H1) of 2011, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) announced July 13.

Output from Sinopec Zhongyuan's Puguang Gasfield, located in western China's Sichuan Province, accounted for 2.97 bcm of the total. The figure exceeds Sinopec's production target for the gasfield by some 50.07 million cubic meters (mcm), according to the SASAC, a government watchdog overseeing state-owned assets.

Gas extracted from the Dongpu depression in Henan Province and the Baiyin, Chagan and Erlin basins in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region accounted for the remaining 220 million cubic metes (mcm).

The Puguang Gasfield supplies natural gas to Sinopec's Sichuan-Shanghai Pipeline. It has proven reserves of 400 bcm, Interfax previously reported.
