McDonald's boosts sales revenue by 12% in 2010, Moscow sales down
MOSCOW. July 19 (Interfax) - McDonald's fast food chain increased its sales revenue in Russia for 2010 even as sales at its Moscow restaurants decreased, the SPARK-Interfax database said in its materials.
Total sales revenue generated by McDonald's Russian outlets came to 37.1 billion rubles [the company has two operations in Russia - CJSC Moscow-McDonald's which manages around 50 restaurants in Moscow, and LLC McDonald's, which manages the remaining restaurants in the capital, as well as outlets in 60 Russian cities].
CJSC Moscow-McDonald's sales revenue for 2010 came to 10.9 billion rubles from 12.2 billion rubles for 2009. The company's gross profit went up by 10% to 7.1 billion rubles while net profit increased by 80% to 1.6 billion rubles.
LLC McDonald's sales revenue went up by 24.5% to 26.2 billion rubles. The company's gross profit increased by 32.5% to 16.7 billion rubles while net profit went up by 42.4% to 2.8 billion rubles.
The total sales revenue for the two companies came to 33.2 billion rubles in 2009. Therefore, this figure in 2010 increased by 11.7%.
McDonald's chain unites over 32,000 restaurants in 117 countries. Three fourths of the company's outlets operate as franchises. The company employs around 1.7 million people.
The company's net profit for 2010 came to $4.946 billion while sales revenue stood at $24.075 billion.
McDonald's chain in Russia includes over 270 restaurants.
