Rosatom internal inquiry results in nearly 50 managers sacked since 2010

MOSCOW. July 20 (Interfax) - In 2010-2011 the state corporation Rosatom sacked almost 50 top managers as part of efforts to combat corruption at its companies, the corporation told Interfax.

In 2010, Rosatom set up an asset protection unit in addition to its Internal Control and Audit Department. Based on the evidence gathered by these subdivisions, 35 top managers were sacked and five dossiers were handed over for inquiry to law enforcement agencies in 2010. In the first half of 2011, 12 company executives were sacked, nine dossiers were handed over to investigators, three of them led to criminal charges, and decisions are still being made on the other six.

Former Rosatom deputy chief Yevgeny Yevstratov has been arrested on suspicion of organizing a scheme for embezzling public funds, the Russian Interior Ministry said on Wednesday.
