Batumi oil terminal handles 20.3% less oil, oil product in Jan-July

TBILISI. Aug 2 (Interfax) - Batumi Oil Terminal LLC transshipped 20.3% less oil and oil product year-on-year in January-July - 3.104 million tonnes in all.

The terminal, which is owned by KazTransOil (a subsidiary of Kazakhstan's national oil and gas company KazMunayGas), told Interfax that the terminal had transported 560,000 tonnes of oil and oil product last month, which was 31.3% more than in June but 5.5% less than in July of last year.

Oil-handling decreased 23.3% to 2.561 million tonnes over the seven months (82.5% of all product transported), including 450,700 tonnes of oil last month - 7.6% less year-on-year.

The terminal also shifted 194,000 tonnes of fuel oil, which was not transported through Batumi in January-July last year, 137,100 tonnes of gasoline (13.1% less year-on-year), and 64,600 tonnes of diesel fuel (26.8% less).

There was 4,000 tonnes of aviation kerosene (93% less) moved through the terminal - just in January and March, 22,600 tonnes of naphtha (77% less), and 66,100 tonnes of other light oil products (1% less).

The terminal handled 54,500 tonnes of liquefied gas, 42.4% less year-on-year.

Batumi Oil Terminal transported 6.116 million tonnes of oil and oil product in 2010, 4.6% less than in 2009.

KazTransOil has owned the terminal since February of 2008, having acquired the assets and the right to manage Batumi Sea Port from the international investment group Greanoak Holdings.
