Ling'ao nuclear plant goes fully operational
Shanghai. August 8. INTERFAX-CHINA - The Ling'ao Nuclear Power Plant, owned and operated by state-run China Guangdong Nuclear Power Holding Co. Ltd. (CGNPC), is fully operational following the completion of the second phase of the project on Aug. 7, the company announced via its website Aug. 8.
According to the announcement, the second phase boosts the plant's aggregate installed capacity to 6.11 GW with the addition of two reactors, each with a capacity of about one gigawatt (GW). The first of these went on-line in September last year.
Ling'ao Nuclear Power Plant is located in southern Guangdong Province, roughly 60 kilometers (km) north of Hong Kong and one km from the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant, another CGNPC project. The first phase began operations in 2002.
