Moscow plans to open over 20 subway stations over next three years

MOSCOW. Aug 9 (Interfax) - Moscow is planning to open three new subway stations in 2012, five in 2013 and 13 in 2014.

"This year, particular attention needs to be paid to the design of new stations so as to speed up the construction in the subsequent years," Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said at a session of the city government on Tuesday.

During the peak years, around 150 million rubles will be allocated annually for the development of the Moscow subway system, he said.

"It is necessary to carry out all the preparatory and design work now so as to complete three new stations by 2012, five stations in 2013 and 13 new stations in 2014," Sobyanin said.

The development of the subway system and the road and transport infrastructure in the capital city is one of the priorities in Moscow's investment program, he said.
