Railway freight-hauling in Russia up 4.2% at 799.9 mln tonnes in Jan-July
MOSCOW. Aug 11 (Interfax) - Freightage by rail in Russia increased 4.2% year-on-year to 799.9 million tonnes in the first half of 2011, according to OJSC Russian Railways (RZD) materials obtained by Interfax.
However, the increase in transportation continues to slow: it was 4.4% in the first half, 4.7% in January-May, 5.5% in January-April, 7% in the first quarter, 9.7% in January-February, and 15.6% in January.
Rail shipping along internal routes grew 3.2% (3.5% in H1, 4.4% in January-May, 5.3% in January-April, and 6.5% in Q1). It grew 5.7% along international routes (5.8% in H1, 5.3% in January-May, 5.9% in January-April, and 7.7% in Q1).
RZD reported not long ago that the freight load on Russia's rails increased 3.7% in January-July to 713.7 million tonnes.
