Rostelecom leads Russian stock market up
MOSCOW. Aug 12 (Interfax) - The Russian stock market posted gains on Friday amid positive trends in the global markets, despite weak U.S. consumer confidence data.
The MICEX stock index closed the day up 2.2% to 1470.56 and the RTS was up 3.23% to 1594.68. Benchmark stocks rose 0.3-4.4%.
The MICEX fell 7.3% in a turbulent week and the RTS shed 11.4%.
Ordinary shares in Rostelecom, which plummeted 14.6% on Thursday, soared 14% on Friday. Prefs rose 6%.
The MICEX saw growth for VTB (+4.2%), Gazprom (+2.7%), Gazprom Neft (+3.4%), Lukoil (+0.3%), NOVATEK (+1%), MMC Norilsk Nickel (+4.2%), Polyus Gold (+3.6%), Rosneft (+4.4%), Sberbank (+2.1%), Surgutneftegas (+1.5%), Tatneft (+1.1%) and FGC (+3.8%).
Second-tier MICEX advancers included TGK-14 (+8.2%), Raspadskaya (+6.6%), Acron (+6.6%), Sollers (+6.2%) and TGK-9 (+5.3%). There were drops for TMK (-3.6%), M.Video (-3.2%), TGK-2 (-1.9%) and RBK-TV (-1.5%).
RTS Classica Market volume was $3.896 million, RTS Standard turnover reached $336.776 million and MICEX volume came to 84.414 billion rubles.
