Megafon, TTC bid for 3.4-3.5 Ghz frequencies
MOSCOW. Aug 15 (Interfax) - Thirty telecom operators, including Megafon and Transtelecom (TTC) structures, have submitted bids in tenders for the right to offer fixed wireless access services in the 3.4-3.5 Ghz range.
The Russian telecoms regulator Roskomnadzor reported it had taken bids for three tenders that will offer 3.4-3.45 Ghz and 3.500-3.55 Ghz frequencies in 29 cities in eight regions.
The first tender will take place on September 6. Bids were received from O.S.S. - Telecom LLC, Nenets Telecoms Company, Megafon, KVS LLC and TTC. This tender will offer 14 lots in 17 cities in Kostroma, Vladimir, Moscow, Lipetsk, Arkhangelsk, Pskov, Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk, Tyumen and Rostov regions, and in Komi territory and Nenets, Yamal-Nenets and Khanty-Mansiisk autonomous districts.
Two more tenders are planned for September 9.
The first will offer frequencies in 11 cities in Saratov, Kemerovo regions, Perm, Krasnoyarsk and Stavropol territories, and North Ossetia-Alania, Bashkortostan and Udmurtia republics. Bids have been forwarded by Megafon, O.S.S. Telecom, Tvingo Telecom, TTC and five of its subsidiaries - Caucasus Transtelecom, Zap-Sibtranstelecom, Volgatranstelecom, Transtelecom-NN and Ural-Transtelecom.
The second tender will offer licenses for eight regions: Kamchatka territory, Magadan region, Altai, Tyva, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkariya and Chechnya republics. Bids were made by O.S.S. Telecom, Megafon, Vainakh Telecom and Ingushelectrosvyaz.
The State Radio Frequency Commission in March 2011 decided to hold tenders for these 20 Mhz band frequencies that can be used for WiMAX wireless broadband services.
