Russia, Belarus could form working group to shape common industrial policy

MOSCOW. Aug 15 (Interfax) - Belarus Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich has proposed setting up a Russian-Belarusian working group to draft a common industrial policy.

Myasnikovich proposed at a meeting of the Russian-Belarusian Council of Ministers that Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov take charge of this working group.

Shuvalov's energy could help start the work to "harmonize the fundamental principles of the development of the Union State and the 'troika,' and to draw up a common Russian-Belarusian industrial policy," Myasnikovich said.

Myasnikovich also said that a declaration will hopefully be drafted in 2011 on a new stage of integration between Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan - the Declaration of the Eurasian Economic Union.

Integration experience, amassed by the Russia-Belarus Union State, must be taken into account during this work, he said.

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin proposed forming a common scientific-technological space of the Union State, saying that the 2011 Union budget must be adjusted, given the implementation of joint programs. "I think a stronger accent must be placed on innovation projects," Putin said.
