Russia harvests 48.5 mln tonnes of grain by Aug 16 - Agriculture Ministry
MOSCOW. Aug 16 (Interfax) - Russia harvested 48.5 million tonnes of grain from more than 17.2 million hectares (39% of the area sown) as of August 16, the Agriculture Ministry said, citing data reported by agricultural organizations in the regions.
The yield was is 28.1 centners/hectare compared with 21.2 c/ha in 2010 and 27.2 c/ha in 2009.
A total of 33.6 million tonnes of wheat has been harvested from 10.6 million ha (41% of the area sown) for a yield of 31.5 c/ha (compared with 23.7 c/ha and 28.8 c/ha in the same periods of 2010 and 2009 respectively).
About 8.8 million tonnes of barley has been harvested from 3.6 million ha for a yield of 24.2 c/ha (18.1 c/ha and 25.8 c/ha).
In the Southern Federal District, 18.7 million tonnes of grain has been harvested from 5.7 million ha (81%). The yield was 32.7 c/ha (30.9 c/ha and 30 c/ha).
In the North Caucasus Federal District, 8.6 million tonnes has been harvested from 2.3 million ha (83%), yielding 37.3 c/ha (32.4 c/ha and 31 c/ha).
In the Central Federal District, 11.9 million tonnes of grain has been harvested from 4.7 million ha (62%) for a yield of 25.6 c/ha (18.4 c/ha and 31.3 c/ha).
In the Volga district, 8.4 million tonnes has been harvested from 4.1 million ha (33%) yielding 20.5 c/ha (9.9 c/ha and 18.8 c/ha). In Siberia, 316,800 tonnes of grain has been harvested from 219,800 ha (2%) yielding 14.4 c/ha (11.5 c/ha and 18.5 c/ha). In the Far Eastern district, 229,400 tonnes of grain has been harvested from 109,700 ha (33%) yielding 20.9 c/ha (10.2 c/ha and 17.1 c/ha).
So far 300,000 tonnes of rapeseed has been harvested from 173,000 ha (19%) yielding 17.3 c/ha (15.9 c/ha and 19.1 c/ha).
Farms have also harvested 96,400 tonnes of potatoes from 5,600 ha (2% of the area sown) yielding 170.8 c/ha (117.5 c/ha and 193.5 c/ha) as well as 184,300 tonnes of truck vegetables from 17,900 ha (17%) yielding 102.7 c/ha.
Fiber flax has been harvested from 13,000 ha, 23% of the area sown.
In Krasnodar and Stavropol territories, 456,900 tonnes of sugar beets has been harvested from 11,500 ha (1%) yielding 396.2 c/ha.
Forage crops have been harvested from 14 million ha (80%), yielding 16.4 million tonnes of feed units, 3.1 million tonnes more than in the same period last year.
