Russian stock market loses previous gains following world markets on week German GDP stats
MOSCOW. Aug 16 (Interfax) - The Russian stock market lost yesterday's gains on Tuesday following declining world exchanges after the release of weak GDP stats for Germany and the Eurozone.
Benchmark stocks on the MICEX fell by 1.95% to 1,481.18 points while the RTS Index went down by 1.37% to 1,632.31 points.
Decliners on the MICEX were shares in VTB , down 2.4%, Gazprom - 1.9%, Gazprom Neft - 1%, Lukoil - 2.3%, NOVATEK - 3.4%, MMC Norilsk Nickel 2.5%, Rosneft - 0.9%, Sberbank - 1.8%, Surgutneftegas - 1.8%, Tatneft - 2.8% and Federal Grid Company UES - 0.1%.
Shares in Rostelecom fell by 4.3% to 155.2 rubles even after these shares went up by over 2.5% on expectations that MSCI might include the telecom's shares on its index starting from September 1 after its main and additional share issues are combined (this took place on the MICEX on August 10).
Posting losses among second tier stocks on the MICEX were TMK , down 4.6%, Raspadskaya - 4.2%, Sollers - 4%, Belon - 3.9%, NLMK - 3.3% and Aeroflot - 3.2%
Posting gains were OGK-2 , up 9.2%, OGK-6 - 8.4%, Seventh Continent - 5.6%, OGK-1 - 5.3% and OGK-3 - 4.7%
Classic RTS Trading for the day came to $2.031 million, RTS Standard deals - $600.62 million and MICEX Stock Exchange transactions - over 52.54 billion rubles.
