Moscow to transfer 75% of shares in Vnukovo Airport to Russian govt by end of Nov
ZHUKOVSKY. Aug 17 (Interfax) - The transfer of shares in OJSC Vnukovo Airport owned by the Moscow government to the Russian government should be finished by October-November, the airport's first deputy general director, Vitaly Vantsev, told journalists on Wednesday.
"The transfer process will be finished in October-November", he said.
The Moscow government owns 75% of the shares in Vnukovo Airport.
It was earlier reported that the Economic Development Ministry and Transportation Ministry have proposed transferring the airport to federal property through a gift agreement. The ministries sent this proposal to the Cabinet of Ministers at the end of April.
The shares are being transferred for the merger of Vnukovo and Sheremetyevo Airports. On March 28, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said that the Transport Ministry and the Mayor's Office of Moscow had reached an agreement to merge Sheremetyevo and OJSC Vnukovo Airport into a single complex. Following the merger, the company will be privatized.
The terms for merging the airports will be determined by the Ministries of Economic Development and Transport, as well as the Moscow authorities. Sheremetyevo will be first merged into a single complex with Terminal D. Later, the enlarged Sheremetyevo will be merged with Vnukovo.
Vnukovo is one of Moscow's three top airports. The company provided services to 9.4 million people in 2010. In addition to the Moscow government, OJSC Vnukovo-Invest owns 25% in the airport.
