Unemployment in Russia rises to 6.5% in July - Rosstat
MOSCOW. Aug 17 (Interfax) - Unemployment in Russia rose in July, to 6.5% from 6.1% in June, the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) said.
Rosstat said there were 5.013 million jobless people at the end of July 2011, 401,000 more than at the end of June 2011 but 331,000 or 6.2% fewer than in July last year.
The number of unemployed as per International Labor Organization (ILO) methodology is 3.6 times the number of unemployed on the rolls of Russia's employment service.
Russia had 1.384 million registered unemployed at the end of July 2011, 41,000 fewer than at the end of June 2011. Of these, 1.1 million received unemployment benefit.
Unemployment in the crisis period peaked at 7.056 million in February 2009.
