UAC and Antonov to use Siemens systems in development of An-124 and An-70
MOSCOW. Aug 18 (Interfax) - Ukrainian state enterprise Antonov, in its design of the An-124 Ruslan and An-70 aircraft along with Russia's OJSC United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), will use Siemens PLM Software, the German concern said in a statement on Thursday.
"The systems have been selected in order ensure that the constructors have parallel operations," the statement said.
Antonov designs, tests and producers An aircraft. The enterprise was founded in 1946 by aircraft designer Oleg Antonov. Since then, the enterprise has created over 100 types of aircraft with various modifications. The company has built over 22,000 aircraft in its history.
Siemens PLM Software is a subdivision of Siemens Industry Automation Division (Siemens IAD), which develops and supplies programming solutions and services. The company's solutions allow enterprises to organize joint operations in a distributed environment. The company is based in Plano, U.S. Siemens IAD's sales in 2010 came to 6.2 billion euro.
