Rosselkhoznadzor gives quality certification for export of 4.3 mln tonnes of grain between Jul 1 and Aug 15
MOSCOW. Aug 18 (Interfax) - The branches of Russia's agricultural watchdog, Rosselkhoznadzor, provided quality certificated for the export of 4.3 million tonnes of grain between July 1 and August 15, the watchdog said in a statement.
The statement said that a total of 802,900 tonnes of grains had been certified for export to Egypt, Kenya - 286,300 tonnes, Italy - 280,500 tonnes, Saudi Arabia - 272.900 tonnes and Israel - 236,800 tonnes.
In addition,, certifications were provide for the export of 202,600 tonnes to Spain, Greece - 107,300 tonnes, Georgia - 93,800 tonnes, Tunis - 87,100 tonnes and Mauritania - 16,500 tonnes.
Russia renewed exports of grain on July 1 of this year after an almost yearlong "grain embargo". The ban on exports was put into effect on August 15, 2010 since one third of Russia's grain harvest had perished because of an anomalous drought. Prior to the ban, total exports came to only over 4 million tonnes of grain.
According to Russia's Agricultural Ministry, exports of grain this year might reach 20 million-23 million tonnes.
