Kuban Airlines to acquire 12 Superjet 100 passenger jets
ZHUKOVSKY. Aug 19 (Interfax) - Kuban Airlines has signed an agreement with Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company (SCAC) on delivery of 12 Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) in the basic configuration, an Interfax correspondent reported from the signing ceremony.
The deal is worth $380.4 million at current list prices. The first two planes are scheduled for delivery in 2012 with five more delivered each year in 2013 and 2014, Kuban Airlines CEO Denis Ilyin said.
A firm contract for the order will be signed before year-end, he said.
The airline is considering the option of acquiring the planes via VEB-Leasing or Sberbank-Leasing. The monthly charge for one plane leased from VEB-Leasing would not exceed $150,000. The administration of Krasnodar territory might also participate in the acquisition. "Negotiations are underway. This will be either subsidies or financing guarantees," Ilyin said.
Kuban Airlines' fleet will number at least 30 planes by 2015, including Boeing 737-300 and A319 aircraft. Most of its 11 Yak-42 planes will be retired by then, he said.
