First Container Terminal ups capacity 23% to 1.35 mln TEU per yr

ST. PETERSBURG. Aug 23 (Interfax) - CJSC First Container Terminal, part of National Container Company (NCC) and located in St. Petersburg, has increased its throughput capacity by 22.7% to 1.35 million TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units) per year, a statement from NCC says.

Since the start of the year, the terminal's administrative zone has been expanded, 'dry port' technology between First Container Terminal and Logistics Terminal launched, and five new container trucks commissioned. Four RTG (rubber tired gantry) cranes were delivered with payload capability of 40 tonnes.

First Container Terminal's investment program involves increasing its throughput capacity to 1.6 TEU by 2015.

First Container Terminal, one of the biggest in Russia, operates a series of maritime and land-based container terminals. It includes CJSC First Container Terminal, Ust-Luga Container Terminal, and an inland container terminal in Shushary (Leningrad Region).
