Dollar and euro close week on MICEX with slight gains
MOSCOW. Aug 26 (Interfax) - The U.S. dollar and euro posted minor gains on the MICEX on Friday while the Russian ruble slipped against the Central Bank's bi-currency basket (set at 0.45 euro and $0.55) owing to varying market trends after the opening of the U.S. Federal Reserve's conference was followed by a heightened market volatility.
The dollar went up by 0.25 kopecks to close at 28.945 rubles/$1 on the MICEX while the euro increased by 4.25 kopecks to finish at 41.57 rubles/EUR1.
The bi-currency basket went up by 2.5 kopecks to 34.63 rubles.
The dollar's average weighted exchange rate on MICEX went down by 1.07 kopecks to 28.8651 rubles/$1 in Today deals and increased by 3.51 kopecks to 28.8998 rubles/$1 in Tomorrow deals. Combined dollar trading on MICEX amounted to $4.937 billion; of which $1.199 billion were Today deals and $3.738 billion were Tomorrow deals.
The euro's average weighted rate went down by 1.44 kopecks to 41.6729 rubles/EUR1 in Today deals and increased by 1.44 kopecks to 41.6742 rubles/EUR1 in Tomorrow deals. Combined euro trading amounted to 278.6 million euro, of which 155.9 million euro were Today deals and 122.7 million euro were Tomorrow deals.
The Overnight Moscow went up by 38 basis points to 4.45%.
