Russia, Denmark to sign contracts during Queen's visit

MOSCOW. Sept 1 (Interfax) - A number of economic agreements are due to be signed during the visit to Russia by Queen Margrethe II of Denmark on September 6-9, Danish Ambassador to Russia Tom Risdahl Jensen said.

"During the visit, economic agreements will be signed both at a formal level and at the companies' level," he told a press conference in Moscow on Thursday.

The Queen will be accompanied by a delegation of executives from Danish executives companies such as Maersk, Danfoss, Gryndfoss and Carlsberg, he said.

"Never has the Queen been accompanied on a foreign trip by so many representatives from Danish companies," Jensen said.

"This is a state visit with a very strong emphasis on the economy. The priority is given to precisely this aspect," he added.

Danish companies have experience in areas that might be of interest to Russia, Jensen said.

"These are areas such as energy efficiency, logistics and the food industry. In a number of areas, we are at the forefront and can answer Russia's questions in the process of modernizing its economy," he said.

Copenhagen is keen on increasing Russian investments in Denmark, he said.

"So far they are relatively few, I mean direct investments. The exception is the steelmaking industry. The Danish government would welcome an increase in Russian investment in Denmark," Jensen said.

The queen will be accompanied by Prince Consort Henrik and Crown Prince Frederik. The royal family will visit Moscow and St. Petersburg, and after September 9 the visit will enter the informal stage, which is expected to continue until September 12, Jensen said.
