Ukrainian steel majors up output in 8 mths
KYIV. Sept 2 (Interfax) - Most of Ukraine's steel majors boosted finished roll production in January-August.
ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih (formerly Kryvorizhstal), the country's biggest steel mill, reduced roll production tentatively 11% year-on-year to 3.139 million tonnes, the company told Interfax.
But Azovstal said it increased roll output 8% year-on-year to 3.655 million tonnes, Zaporizhstal raised it 15.8% to 2.135 million tonnes and the Ilich works from Mariupol raised it 32% to 3.189 million tonnes.
The Alchevsk Iron & Steel Works, a member of the Industrial Union of Donbass (IUD) group, increased roll output 36.4% year-on-year to 2.495 million tonnes, and IUD's Dzerzhinsky Metallurgical Combine (DMK) raised it 17.3% to 1.061 million tonnes.

Ukraine's steel industry boosted finished roll output 11.6% year-on-year in January-August to 20.334 million tonnes, the Industrial Policy Ministry told Interfax. Crude steel production rose 8% to 23.153 million tonnes and pig iron grew 6% to 19.107 million tonnes.
