Azerbaijani oil-product exports drop 27% in Jan-Aug

BAKU. Sept 2 (Interfax) - State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR) exported 939,297 tonnes of oil products over the first eight months of the year, 27.1% less than in the same period of 2010, the SOCAR press service told Interfax.

There was 66,318 tonnes of automobile gasoline exported during this period, 815,977 tonnes of diesel fuel, 51,850 tonnes of aviation fuel, and 5,152 tonnes of fuel oil.

SOCAR exported 127,898 tonnes of oil products in August alone, including 1,604 tonnes of automobile gasoline, 118,161 tonnes of diesel fuel, 7,954 tonnes of aviation fuel, and 179 tonnes of fuel oil.

Azerbaijan has two oil refineries - Azerneftyag and the Heydar Aliyev refinery in Baku - with combined processing capacity of 22 million tonnes per year. They are both part of SOCAR.
