Energy Ministry asks Europe to allow Gazprom to reach end consumer

MOSCOW. Sept 5 (Interfax) - Russian Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko has asked Europe to allow Russian company Gazprom to join European energy projects, and thus reach the end consumer.

"Gazprom's position in this respect, and the recent decisions, and the recent initiatives, which Gazprom has been demonstrating in this direction [the relations with the European Union], show that Gazprom is willing to consider the possibility of moving the center of profit from ordinary assets to gas generation. This means that we are ready to resolve the issue of supplying at fair or more competitive prices to the European market, but let us into gas generation and give us a chance to reach the end consumer," he said in an interview with the Rossiya-24 television channel.

"In principle, the end consumer will only gain from it," the minister said.
