Ruble edges up against dollar, down against euro

MOSCOW. Sept 8 (Interfax) - The ruble edged up against the dollar and down against euro in early trading Thursday and was steady against the bi-currency basket in view of yesterday's significant growth in the global capital markets.

The dollar fell 4 kopecks from yesterday's closing level to 29.475 rubles/$1 by on the Moscow Interbank Currency Exchange (MICEX) in the first few minutes. This was 1.5 kopecks below the official rate for today.

The euro rose 3 kopecks to 41.465 rubles, but this was 2.5 kopecks below the official rate.

The dual currency basket ($0.55 and EUR 0.45) opened the day at 34.87 rubles, or 1 kopeck below yesterday's closing value.
