Fight against corruption continues in Russia - Medvedev

MOSCOW. Sept 12 (Interfax) - Russia will fight corruption to bring order to its economy, not to get foreign investors to like it, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said.

"This problem, unfortunately, is large-scale, and comprehensive measures are needed to fight it. We have to do it to bring our economy to order, not even to get foreign investors to like us. And we will work on this," Medvedev told a press conference following his meeting with British Prime Minister David Cameron.

Medvedev says he disagrees that no money can be invested into Russia until it defeats corruption.

"I would like to say that it's going to be very difficult to work with most countries that exist on our planet using these criteria. Unfortunately, corruption as a social phenomenon exists everywhere and - I may reveal to you a secret that you don't know - in the UK too. However, we trade with the UK and we are ready to invest in the British economy," Medvedev said, adding that "this does not mean that we should not fight corruption.
