Total transit of freight via Northern Sea Route to increase to 1 mln tonnes this year - Transport Ministry

MOSCOW. Sept 14 (Interfax) - Transit freight transported via the Northern Sea Route will increase to 1 million tonnes this year from 228,000 tonnes in 2010, Deputy Transport Minister Viktor Olersky told journalists in Moscow on Wednesday.

"We expect transit to reach 1 million tonnes this year. Last year transit came to 228,800 tonnes," he said.
