Russia generates 1.5% more electricity in 8 mths
MOSCOW. Sept 15 (Interfax) - Russia generated 683 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in January-August, up 1.5% year-on-year, the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) said.
Output rose 3% year-on-year to 459 billion kWh at coal- and gas-fired power plants, 1% to 111 billion kWh at nuclear plants and 3.5% to 112 billion kWh at hydroplants.
Heat generation in Russia fell 1.6% year-on-year in January-August to 837 million Gcal.
Electricity generation rose 16% at nuclear plants in August but fell 1.2% at thermal plants and 3.1% at hydro-plants.
Heat generation grew 3.2% year-on-year in August.
