EU to provide EUR 70 mln for Ukraine energy efficiency program
KYIV. Sept 21 (Interfax) - The European Union plans to allocate EUR 70 million to Ukraine to support the the national program for energy efficiency designed until 2015, Head of the State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving Mykola Pashkevych told reporters in Kyiv on Wednesday.
the funds will be allocated in three tranches: EUR 31 million and two tranches of EUR 16 million each. Besides, the EU will provide EUR 7 million in technical aid for this purpose.
Each of the tranches will be disbursed after the Ukraine complies with a number of performance indicators, Pashkevych added.
The European Union has already approved the payment of a first tranche of EUR 31 million to Ukraine.
According to the State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving, the funds are to be sent to finance energy efficiency measures as top-priority ones under the state target economic program on energy efficiency and the development of energy generation from renewable sources and alternative fuel for 2010-2015.
