Putin announces assignment of 1.3 Tln rubles on road construction in 3 years
MOSCOW. Sept 21 (Interfax) - In the next three years 1.3 trillion rubles will be channeled to the construction of roads in Russia, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has announced.
"Next year we will continue the large-scale renovation of the network of highways. In the next three years we will spend 1.3 trillion rubles on roads, 678 billion out of that amount on the construction and reconstruction of federal highways," Putin said at a Cabinet session on Wednesday.
He added that the government will be advancing the transport sector - upgrading airports and river ports as well as railways. A total of 276 billion rubles will be assigned for the purpose.
"We will support regional air carriers, primarily in the Far East, of course, and continue the program of discounted flights for residents of the Far East and Kaliningrad region. Besides, special attention will be paid to transport safety issues," he said.
