Transaero acquires latest Boeing-777
MOSCOW. Sept 23 (Interfax) - OJSC Transaero Airlines acquired a new Boeing-777-300 on Wednesday with a pricetag of no more than $311 million, the airline said in a statement.
The statement said that the aircraft had been acquired from VEBL-767-300 Limited.
It was earlier reported that Transaero's board of directors approved the signing of a buy-sell and leasing agreements in August for acquiring Boeing planes at a price of no more than $554.4 million.
The main shareholders in Transaero are the chairman of its board of directors, Alexander Pleshakov, and the company's CEO, Olga Pleshakova.
The airline's fleet consists of 70 aircraft: 12 Boeing-747s, eight Boeing-777s, 13 Boeing-767s, 27 Boeing-737s and three Tu-214s.
Transaero flew 6.6 million passengers in 2010.
The company flies to over 130 destinations in Russia, Europe, Asia, North America and Africa.
