Russia bans animal product imports from 12 French companies
MOSCOW. Sept 27 (Interfax) - Russian veterinary and phytosanitary regulator Rosselkhoznadzor has restricted imports to the Russian and Customs Union market of goods from 12 French companies - nine meat processing and three dairy companies.
The ban was imposed after the companies were found to have breached Russian and Customs Union veterinary and sanitary requirements and standards, Rosselkhoznadzor reported.
The Russian veterinary service sent its French counterpart a letter asking for an investigation into the violations uncovered.
The French companies were checked between June 26 and July 9. In agreement with the veterinary services of Belarus and Kazakhstan, Rosselkhoznadzor inspected 19 French companies that had the right to import animal products to the Customs Union countries.
Seven companies maintained their import rights after the inspection - five meat processing and two dairy companies.
