Kazatomprom revises 2011 output forecast up slightly
ALMATY. Sept 28 (Interfax) - Kazakh National Nuclear Company Kazatomprom has revised the outlook for Kazakhstan's uranium production in 2011 to 19,900 tonnes.
"According to preliminary estimates, the uranium production in 2011 will reach 19,900 tonnes," Kazatomprom said in a Wednesday statement.
Kazatomprom's most recent guidance for uranium output was 19,600 tonnes.
In January-August 2011 Kazakhstan produced 12,284 tonnes of uranium. In 2010 uranium production in Kazakhstan reached 17,803 tonnes.
Kazatomprom is Kazakhstan's national operator for export of uranium and its compounds, rare metals, nuclear fuel for nuclear power plants, special equipment, technologies and dual use materials.
Kazatomprom, one of the leading uranium producers, contributes over 30% of the global uranium production.
