EC to enforce competition law where necessary - commissioner
BRUSSELS. Sept 29 (Interfax) - The European Commission is determined to take enforcement action to ensure that competition law is upheld, EC Energy Commissioner Gunther Oettinger said at a conference on the EU energy market.
"In the area of competition law, the Commission remains fully determined to take enforcement action where necessary," Oettinger said.
EC officers held spot inspections at the offices of some Gazprom subsidiaries and related companies in Central and Eastern Europe on September 27 over fears that companies breached rules to protect market competition and consumers.
