Russia reduces production of vodka, cognac, beer and wine in Aug - Rosstat
MOSCOW. Sept 30 (Interfax) - Russia reduced its production of strong alcoholic beverages, as well as beer and wine, but increased production of liqueurs with 25% alcohol content in August, Russia's State Statistics Agency (Rosstat) said in its materials on Friday.
Rosstat said that a total of 6.7 million decaliters of vodka was produced in August, which is a decrease of 11.5% from August 2010. However, vodka production increased by 16.5% in comparison with July of this year.
Production of cognac came to 643,000 decaliters, a year-on-year decrease of 2.2% but a 73.1% increase from July.
Sparkling and gasified wine production fell by 16.6% to 2 million decaliters while table wine output went down by 19.7% to 3.7 million decaliters.
Production of light beer decreased by 16.1% to 86.3 million decaliters in August.
Production of liqueurs with up to 25% alcohol content increased by 8.2% to 223,000 decaliters.
Production of cigarettes decreased by 6% to 32.2 billion units in August.
