Kola NPP edges electricity generation down in 9 mths

MURMANSK. Oct 3 (Interfax) - Kola NPP from Russia's Murmansk region generated 675.1 million kilowatt-hours of electricity in September 2011, the NPP said.

In January-August 2011, Kola NPP generated 6.8206 billion kWh of electricity, so in January-September 2011, it generated a total of 7.4957 billion kWh, a 0.2% decrease over the same period last year.

Power generating units N1, N3 and N4 are currently in operation. Power generating unit N2 is undergoing scheduled repairs.

Kola NPP is the largest power company on the Kola Peninsula, with an installed capacity of 1,760 megawatts. Besides supplying electricity to Russian consumers, Kola NPP also exports to Finland and Norway.
